The Credit Union is doing very well even though times are difficult. The Credit Union earned 1.2 million dollars during the first half of the year. We now have 28 million dollars in reserves.  The Credit Union has a small mortgage loan portfolio of about 4 million dollars. There are no delinquencies and no foreclosures within that portfolio. Your deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) up to $100,000. The NCUSIF is a strong and stable fund which has the full weight of the Federal Government behind it, similar to the bank's FDIC insurance. Not one dollar of member deposits have ever been lost at a federally insured credit union.   The Credit Union also provides, free of charge, an additional private insurance (Excess Share Insurance, ESI) in the amount of $250,000. We believe we are the only financial institution in El Paso that provides extra deposit insurance.
