THE CREDIT UNION PHILOSOPHY

At El Paso Employees Federal Credit Union, we take pride in being able to give back to the community. Giving FREE financial seminars, volunteering and helping our members gain a higher education with scholarships are just a few ways we like to show our appreciation. Writing Contest Scholarship
EPEFCU holds a semi-annual writing contest for both high school seniors and college students. Students are asked to write a 1,000 word essay over one of three topics that are focused on the student’s ability to juggle their finances. It is yet another way to encourage our young adults to think about the way they manage their money. Click here to learn about our past scholarship winners, and check our website often for entry deadlines.

Community Outreach

Kites for Kids
El Paso Employees FCU is planning to spend a little time enjoying the warm outdoors this June. Last year EPEFCU launched its very first “Kites for Kids Day” at the Vista del Valle Park across from our Main Office. More than 100 Credit Union families flocked to the summer celebration and enjoyed kite flying contests and giveaways, and indulged free food.

Make plans to join us this year as we get ready to ring in the summer season with our second annual Kites for Kids event Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 11am to 1pm. Make sure to come early as the first 100 children will receive a free kite!

Movies in the Canyon
Looking for something to do this summer? Round up the kids and enjoy free movies under the stars!

We’ve teamed up with the El Paso Convention and Performing Arts Centers to help sponsor this year’s Movies in the Canyon. Enjoy the spectacular backdrop of the McKelligon Canyon Amphitheater while you and your family relive favorite movie classics.

Mark your calendars as we kick off the third season Friday, August 19th through October 1st, 2011. A complete list of movies will be available in May at moviesinthecanyon.com or by calling (915) 534-0665.

Celebration of Lights
This year, we wanted to make the 75th anniversary of the annual festivities even more extraordinary and so, for the first time, El Paso Employees FCU partnered up with the City of El Paso to sponsor the holiday event. In an effort to make the enchanting pastime even more memorable for the residents of our community, EPEFCU added a fireworks and laser light show, and participated in the parade with a float that encompassed the magical feeling of Christmas.

With a newly formed partnership, the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department along with EPEFCU branded the yearly festivities that will now be known as the Celebration of Lights, a fitting name considering that more than 35,000 lights adorned over 100 displays, trees and anything else electric lights could be attached to. More than 80,000 crowded in the heart of Downtown El Paso to watch the lighting of the tree, the laser and fireworks show, and the parade. Make sure to join us this winter down at the San Jacinto Plaza for all of the festivities!
