Board of Directors Candidates 2012

The Nominating Committee has selected four candidates for the four positions open for election to the Board of Directors of evolve Federal Credit Union. The nominees are listed with their biography in alphabetical order.

 

David Almonte
I am a native El Pasoan, U.S. Air Force veteran, married to Martha Almonte, we have three children. I have been a member of the credit union for seventeen years. Currently I serve on the Board of Directors completing a fifth term. I have been on the Executive Committee and serve as Chairperson of the Budget and Finance Committee.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Master’s Degree in Business Administration and eleven years banking experience. Presently I am the Director of the Office of Management and Budget for the City of El Paso. I would like to continue serving on the Board of Directors and help ensure the credit union’s financial stability, growth, and ensure equitable service to all.


Nicholas J. Costanzo
I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1987 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration and a minor in Accounting. I am Vice President for the El Paso Water Utilities and have held various finance and accounting positions over the past 28 years with the Utility.


Serving on the EPEFCU board has been very productive as the credit union has opened new branches and added ATM’s to serve our members. As a member of this credit union for over twenty five years and with my professional education and experience, I believe I can provide cooperative leadership and direction to evolve FCU. I thank you for your support.


Gloria Duran
Being a member of the credit union since 1971, I committed myself to serve the credit union’s membership by following the motto “People Helping People.” I have had the privilege to serve on the Board of Directors since 1987 and have served in the capacity of Chairman.


I graduated from Jefferson High School and have earned credits from UTEP and El Paso Community College. I am married to Victor, and have one son, Paul. I am currently employed as Office Manager in the Department of Environmental Services.


Marcela Navarrete
Marcela Navarrete graduated from UTEP with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting in 1989 and eventually became the first female Chief Financial Officer in the 50 year history of the El Paso Water Utilities. Prior to starting her career with the Utility in 1992, she worked for three years at a local public accounting firm, specializing in credit union audits.


She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Texas Society of CPA’s and the Government Finance Officers Association. She has also served as the Treasurer for the non-profit corporation Keystone Heritage Park Association, a local organization responsible for the development of the Keystone Heritage Park on the City’s behalf, since 2004.

 

IMPORTANT ELECTION NOTICE
In addition to the nominated slate, a qualified member in good standing may be placed on the ballot of nominees for a position on the Board of Directors by petitioning for inclusion on the ballot. Nomination by petition requires the following: Submit a petition signed by at least one (1) percent of the members (457 signatures). Submit a statement of qualification and biographical data, 125 words or less. Submit signed affidavit stating an agreement to the nomination and promise to serve if elected. Petitions and affidavits to serve are available at the Credit Union's Main Office which is located at 8840 Gazelle Drive. Petitions must be returned no later than 5:00 p.m. March 9, 2012. By March 20, 2012, all qualified members 16 years of age or older, in good standing, will be mailed a ballot with instructions and deadline for return. When only one member is nominated for each position to be filled, no ballots will be mailed out. The Chairman of the Board of Directors will declare each nominee elected by general consent or acclamation at the Annual Meeting. An independent accounting firm will tabulate the ballots if necessary. The results will be announced at the Annual Meeting to be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the El Paso Marriott Hotel.
